47-year old iron worker hit the $270 Mega Millions
A 47-year old iron worker from the tiny town of Portal, Ga.,
claims to have won the $270 Mega Millions lottery. He showed up
Saturday morning to celebrate at Clyde's Market, where he bought
the ticket Friday night.
The winner, who would only give an Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reporter his name as "Mr. Harris," said he lives in a mobile home
with his wife and two daughters and drives to Atlanta to work on skyscrapers.
"But all that's about to change," he said. "I used to live in a trailer. And
I used to be an iron worker."
Georgia Lottery officials could not be reached for comment Saturday
morning to confirm that Harris purchased the winning ticket.
Harris said he selected the winning numbers -
7, 12, 13, 19, 22 and Mega Ball 10 - by using the birthdates of his
six granddaughters, but he did not elaborate.
"I'm too happy and confused right now to think too clear,"
he said.
Georgiana Mulrooney - a clerk who works at Clyde's Market on Highway 80,
the main road through the town of about 600 - confirmed that the store
sold Harris the ticket. She said the store and Harris have been
in touch with lottery officials.
Portal is between Statesboro and Swainsboro.

Houston, TX., Some people were enjoying candy hearts and flowers yesterday,
but Mega Millions player Shehu Zibili of Houston received something a bit more substantial from the
Texas Lottery, a $1 million prize. He matched all of the numbers for the January 29 drawing except
the Mega Ball (8 23 39 40 42, Mega Ball: 24). While that would normally qualify him for a $250,000 prize, his decision to Megaply® boosted his winnings by four times that amount.

Couple Wins Lotto Big For The Third Time
02/22/08 Mark and Sue Cutlip may want to get a reserved parking spot in
front of the Virginia Lottery’s Customer Service Center in Woodbridge. It’s getting to be a familiar sight to see the Spotsylvania couple collecting big lottery prizes. On February 11, 2008, they won again. This time Mr. Cutlip matched all five numbers in the Cash 5 day drawing to win $50,000.
It is just the latest in a remarkable string of big wins.
In April 2007, Ms. Cutlip won $52,000 in the Win For Life Game. In July 1999,
she won $1,000 per week for life in the old Virginia Lottery Scratcher game
Lifetime Bonus.
The latest win came when Mr. Cutlip matched the five winning numbers, 3-5-6-12-15,

Eleven members of the Moose Lodge in Phoenix, Arizona are richer
today after redeeming a ticket worth $200,000 from the Wednesday,
January 16 Powerball drawing. Members of the East Mesa Moose Lodge #2082
purchased their winning ticket at the Circle K located in Mesa.
Each of the eleven winners said they will each donate $100
to the clerk that sold them the ticket. We traditionally see
office pool winners, so to have a civic group win is quite unique ,

SCHENECTADY, NY Valentine’s Day is for lovers Lotto lovers in particular. Just ask Pablo Mogollon of Forest Hills, Queens and Oleg Soloviev of the Bath Beach/Graves End section of Brooklyn. The two strangers-turned-Lottery-Millionaires met for the first time today at the Tavern on the Green as Lottery officials presented each with his respective share of an $8,000,000 Lotto jackpot from the drawing held on January 30, 2008.
I love Lotto, said the 54-year-old Mogollon who works as a registered nurse at Bellevue Hospital in midtown. I started playing back in nursing school for the fun of it and have been playing the same lucky numbers ever since.
Mogollon spent a total of $5 on the January 30th Lotto drawing, choosing a mix of randomly generated Quick Pick numbers and his own set of lucky numbers that he also selected at random.
There is no special meaning to the numbers I chose, he said. They’re just my numbers – or so I thought, he added referring to his fellow jackpot winner.
Mogollon will have plenty of time to think of ways to spend his new found wealth during a month-long, pre-scheduled vacation to Peru where he plans to reunite with family and friends. Upon his return to New York, the bachelor millionaire said he plans to look for a new home and, in keeping with the spirit of the day, hinted that he may be ready to settle down.
It’s not out of the question, he said.
Mogollon purchased his winning Lotto ticket on January 27, 2008 at BHP News on 82nd Street in Jackson Heights. He claimed it on February 5, 2008. Mogollon opted to receive his prize as a lump sum. The lump sum payment totals $2,196,506, less required tax withholdings.
Mollogon’s co-jackpot winner, Oleg Soloviev of Brooklyn purchased his lucky Lotto ticket on January 29, 2008 at the CJ Express Deli & Grocery on Cropsey Ave. in Brooklyn. Like Mollogon, Soloviev opted for a mix of Quick Pick numbers and lucky numbers and, like his millionaire counterpart; Soloviev admits that he picked his lucky numbers out of thin air.
The Belarus-born electrical contractor said he owes his good fortune to his constant companion, a Miniature Schnauzer named Bugsy.
I was walking with Bugsy and decided to stop in to get a ticket, he said. I owe it all to him.
Soloviev said his plans for the money include making some much needed repairs to his home and investing wisely for his daughters.
I’m looking ahead to college and weddings for both of my daughters, he said. When asked about plans for a wedding of his own in the near future Soloviev would not commit to an answer.
I just want to see the money, he said. That’s what interests me right now.
Soloviev opted to receive his prize as a lump sum and will receive a one-time payment of $2,196,506, less required tax withholdings.

POWERBALL BREAKS THROUGH TO $100 MILLION
The Powerball jackpot continues to move upward exciting players all across the country. Even though the grand prize was not hit Saturday evening, 562,903 players across the nation won a total of more than $5.3 million in prizes in America’s favorite Game.
Because no one correctly matched all six numbers the jackpot will grow to an estimated $100 million for Wednesday night’s drawing.
The cash option for the Wednesday, February 20th drawing will be an estimated $48.1 million.
The numbers drawn Saturday were 3, 4, 8, 20, 49 and the Powerball was 18. The Power Play multiplier was 3.
Six lucky tickets in Arizona (2), Colorado (1), Idaho (2), and Pennsylvania (1) correctly matched all 5 white numbers and won $200,000 cash each.
Twenty-four tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000.
Ten additional winners of that prize category also had the Power Play option that multiplied the win 3 times for a total of $30,000!
A total of 107,204 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 3 Saturday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply any winnings from 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.
Players purchased $23,525,271 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.
